Belushi is Back For A Third Season of ‘Edutainment’

Belushi’s buds are on fire — figuratively and literally. “Burning Down the House” is the aptly-titled season 3 premiere episode of the Discovery Channel’s “Growing Belushi” series, which begins with a mysterious fire at Belushi’s Farm. The flames engulfed $500,000 worth of cannabis, also sending the drying facility and barn up in smoke — but not in a positive, Cheech and Chong kind of way..

The new season of “Growing Belushi” premiered on April 5 and is now streaming on Discovery and Discovery Plus. The show follows actor Jim Belushi and “his ragtag team of farmers” as they work to transform the small southern Oregon cannabis farm into an expanded global brand. The show’s combination of laughs and information adds up to what Belushi calls “edutainment.” The show features various strains of cannabis cultivated at the farm and explores a myriad of uses for magical marijuana beyond its psychoactive effects, including its potential as a natural remedy for various ailments.

In the first episode of this season, Belushi and his team must rise from the ashes in time for the next harvest. The clock is ticking and another $500,000 of cannabis is at risk. Growing, harvesting, and processing marijuana is not easy or simple, and the commercial cannabis business is not all fun and games. But the ‘edutainment’ aspect also sees happier times, including a guest visit from Belushi’s business partner Dan Aykroyd (who co-starred with Jim’s late brother John Belushi in the cult classic “Blues Brothers”) and a Blues Brothers concert at Joliet Prison where the original movie was filmed.

Season 3 sees Belushi continue to pursue his brand expansion goals by introducing strains like Blues Brothers Working Man’s Brand and Cherry Pie, and includes a “Growing Belushi” marathon on April 20 to commemorate the annual cannabis celebration. The 4/20 marathon will start at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET on Thursday, April 20.

Season 3 tackles tough topics too, including sick plants, seed genetics, and cloning. In episode 4, “Big Sur Holy Weed,” Jim and the gang search for the legendary mythological cannabis seed that was launched by California hippies in the 60s. Additional season highlights include an extra 600 pounds of cannabis the team needs to move before it goes bad, the pursuit of Worldwide Weed Domination, a U.S. road trip adventure, and plenty of brash decisions that could send the entire business into a tailspin.

As audiences have learned, Jim is his own worst enemy. Will he learn from his mistakes and take his cannabis business across the USA and overseas, or will Belushi’s Farm be “up in smoke” once again? Tune in to season 3 of “Growing Belushi” to find out.

You can stream Growing Belushi on Discovery Plus.
